Conservatives are constantly touting your interpretations of the Founding Fathers’ intents.
Your many interpretations of the U.S. Constitution always miss the mark, as you insist on putting a conservative spin on your interpretations.
What conservatives forget about colonial history is the Tories’ strong opposition to any form of revolution against the British Crown. They must also forget the Tories were the conservatives of that era.
So, as much as the insurrectionists involved the January 6th attack on the Capitol hate liberals, progressives, their principles, and their policies, it will be the liberalism of the Founding Fathers that prevents the convictions of some participants.
The liberalism of Framers of the Constitution included the Sixth Amendment, which provides the defendant the right to an impartial jury. So, regardless of the evidence presented by prosecutors in the coming trials of the insurgents, all a defendant needs is one juror sympathetic to their cause to hang the jury and force a mistrial. It will then be left to the prosecutor to decide whether to retry the accused or not continue to pursue the case and release the accused from custody.
Some, or possibly all, of the insurgents, even those shown on television tearing apart the Capitol, could very well join the ranks of the conservative-hated-scum the liberal court system was unable to punish for their crime(s).
Yes, the Founding Fathers were liberals. The Preamble to the Constitution many of us memorized in elementary school includes the words "we", "us", "our", "general welfare", and "establishment of justice", all are fundamentally liberal concepts.
When considering the era in which the Constitution was written, the extremely liberal principles offered by the Framers provided a blueprint for establishing a federal government inclusive of all citizens and focused on enhancing the common good.
