An Elizabeth Warren Quote Spreading On Social Media; Any Brainy Responses?

Just to add some significant info, small business employ by far the vast majority of people in the nation. Not large corporations.

You seem to be living in the past. That used to be true, but is no longer the case. Small businesses account for 55% of all jobs, many of those including the self employed with no employees. Yes, that's a majority, strictly speaking (I don't know the figures, but I would wager that removing the self employed would bring that number below 50%) but it's certainly not a "vast majority." The US is no longer a small business economy, it is a large corporate economy. That is the root cause of the majority of the problems that people on both sides of the aisle complain about. It's funny how Republicans often talk about too many regulations getting in the way of people starting their own businesses, but when given a chance they don't bother with the regulations that interfere with creating new businesses. They always go after the regulations that are a problem for big businesses that want to squeeze another half cent per piece.

Democrats complain about income inequality and too much money funneling to the top? It isn't the CEO of Ma and Pa's cupcakes raking it in. We need to return to our small business focus. Regulate the big guys, and give wide latitude to people who want to start their own businesses.

""The total amount of money that Wall Street handed out in BONUSES last year was DOUBLE the total income of ALL FULL TIME Minimum Wage Workers. That's obscene.. ~Elizabeth Warren"

let's do the math.

28.5 Billion divided by 1 Million workers makes 28.500. that would be 14,250 per year = federal minimum wage.
that means only ONE MILLION minimum wage workers would make the amount of the wall street bonus money in two years.

NOT all full time minimum wage workers.

still despicable, but not the same order.
on the other hand this money does not reflect all other 'expenses'. besides this 28.5 Billion is the official number. who knows the real number might be ten or hundred times as much ?

FACTS are hard to dispute so let's deal with them.

Of the 3.5 million working at minimum wage:

50.6% or 1,797,000 were mostly employed teenagers age 16 to 24 years
Tables 1 - 10; Characteristics of Minimum Wage Workers: 2012
So there are 3.5 million divided into

If the $26.7 billion Wall Streeters pulled in on their bonuses last year had instead gone to minimum wage workers, our economy would be expected to grow by about $32.3 billion — more than triple the $10.4 billion boost expected from the Wall Street bonuses.Mar 12, 2014
Wall Street's 2013 Bonuses Were More Than All Workers Earned Making the Federal Minimum | BillMoyers.com
So let's divide $26.7 billion by 3.5 million the amount works out to $7,628 per worker. Minimum wage for these 3.5 million at $7.50 or $15,000 per year.

NOT double but 1/2 of what was to the 3.5 million minimum wage earners.

Considering there aren't that many 'Full-Time' Minimum Wage jobs anymore, thanks to the ACA that caused companies to convert most of their 'Full-Time' positions to 'Part-Time' positions so they avoid the ACA Mandates - leaving us with the smallest 'Full-Time Work Force since the 70s', I would say Warren is pretty spot on...which ain't saying that much if you take all of that into account.

You naturally have some numbers to back up your claim?
Are Small Businesses the Biggest Producers of Jobs?
Theses are older numbers, but the dynamics haven't changed very much.

Again the FACTS...
How many CEOs are the FaT CATS and how many are the "Ma and Pa" variety!

of the 2,133,500 CEOs per .. CEO Statistics | Statistic Brain
The below table shows that 70% of CEOs 70% or 1,493,450 made over $100,000 and under $500,000 in annual salary.
Now how many times have we heard CEOs making 216 times the average worker???
The average CEO of Standard & Poor's 500 companies were paid 216 times more than the median employees at their companies, according to a USA TODAY analysis of worker pay data from Glassdoor.com and CEO pay data from S&P Capital IQ. CEO pay was based on the most recent total reported compensation of current CEOs and Glassdoor pay is based on worker-reported data to the popular job search site.
9 CEOs paid 800 times more than their workers
The median household income in the United States is $46,326.
How much does the Average American Make? Breaking Down the U.S. Household Income Numbers.
So at $500,000 this amounts to about 10 times the worker NOT 216 times!

I think in the end of this discussion, most people will notice our Economy was exactly like it was just before the Great Depression. A few had it all and the majority had little. What's sad is the poor people are fighting for their own poverty, they think they will get paid more if their employers aren't restricted by Big Gov......Yea, Your employer is using you like a tool to lower restrictions to make even more profits and make you more poor. Thanks for playing.

Small business will not make it into this discussion because it didn't have enough $ to buy politicians.
The federal government sucks...

So at $500,000 this amounts to about 5 times the worker NOT 216 times!
EVEN at an average of $30,000 per employee that is still NOT EVEN CLOSE to 500 times but closer to 16 times!

Cool story, bro. Would you care to join the discussion in this thread?

Actually, the fact is that there aren't that many minimum wage jobs, period. Whether full time or part time.

Why do people put up numbers with out verifying the accuracy?
Politicians are wont to do this!

Remember Obama telling us there were 46 million uninsured Americans!
Remember Obama telling us the Family doctor makes $50,000 cutting off a diabetic's leg.
Remember Obama telling us "I pledge we’ll lower premiums by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year….. We’ll do it by the end of my first term as President of the United States. If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. If you like the doctor you have, you can keep your doctor, too."
Remember Obama telling us "Up to half of all Americans[that would be 155 million] have a pre-existing condition," he told the crowd in Maryland.

why haven't we abolished capitalism’s, natural rate of unemployment through general forms of taxation instead of our current regime?

The Wall Street workers had a better year than the poor did.

The same response that George Herman (Babe) Ruth gave when asked his thoughts on making more than the President of the United States.

A brainless question from the idiot Warren doesn't require much in the way of a response.

In fact, aside from the obvious fact that the author of the drivel OP buys into that clap trap, it is a mystery why anyone would even care to quote Warren's idiotic crap.

Being stuck on stupid, as the author of the OP clearly is, leads to endless reiterations of the nonsensical liberal Democrat Parody meme: "inequality of income!" And it leads to that sub-moron propaganda blather: "the 1%!"

Divide and conquer. Class warfare. Where would the idiot leftists be without their tried and untrue stupid unpersuasive rhetoric?

And what will be done with those bonus checks?
They will be used to buy stuff. They will be deposited into savings accounts and some will invest that money, some
might even be donated to various charities.Very little if any will go into a coffee container and buried in the back yard....

Anyone think differently?

Lizzie doesn't have a problem with people getting checks who haven't done anything to earn them.
She does seem to have a problem with people working all year and then because the company
did well they get a piece of that in the form of a bonus check.

Oh and Lizzie should know this....People who get a bonus check get taxed at a much higher rate then a regular
payroll check....So her favorite entitlement programs benefit....

WTF is her problem?
