An articulate pro-MAGA argument for a tariff reset

Really, the distribution of wealth in the US is what has to be addressed. Blaming China for Americans' cupidity is like blaming Mexico for fentanyl.
Well, we have so badly misapplied capitalism over the last 40 years that what we're seeing was inevitable. The problem is that half the country thinks that doubling down on what got us to this place is the solution. And they have all the power now.

Rethinking Trade Tariffs: Why a Global Trade Reset is Good for Growth

For those of us who are pro-tariff but very much against the way this whole thing has been handled, that's a link to an articulate, intelligent argument for what Trump is doing. Obviously it's one-sided, but it is thoughtful and reasonable.

This is precisely the kind of argument that could have been made to our trading parters and (former) friends behind closed doors from the beginning. We could even have put the hammer down and said something like "America is going to see to it that this reset happens. We very much want to work closely with you on it, but please understand it's time for a reset". But this insane clown show was not required.

That's how it's done in a respectful, intelligent, professional way, instead of resorting to insults, accusations, mockery, anger, intimidation and punishment. We've now seriously damaged our relationships with our (former) friends, they're creating new trade relationships that don't include us, and it never had to happen.
/----/ insults, accusations, mockery, anger, intimidation and punishment seems to be working.

A deal with the UK is in the works and...
TOKYO (Reuters) -Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba reiterated on Sunday that he will aim for the elimination of all tariffs in trade negotiations with the United States.

Speaking on a Fuji Television morning program, Ishiba said that "discussions have gradually come together," and that Tokyo's relationship with U.S. President Donald Trump is "surprisingly good."

Tariffs lead to inflation and possible recession.
/----/ Hey Slow Brain, that's why Trump wants to eliminate them as much as possible.

I love the way MAGAts can believe a minimum of two conflicting thoughts at once.

You mean he doesn't want to collect a tonne of money off them?
/—-/ The plan is to set tariffs at 10% on both sides. We can use ours to pay down the debt.
The screaming contradiction in Trump's ignorant tariff "strategy".
/—-/ Commie Harris would have done nothing to protect the US manufacturers. She did nothing as VP. Cry harder for China.

It is the peasant duty of MAGA white trash to protect their rich Repug feudal masters.

After all, rich Repugs are their intellectual and moral superiors and they simply have no choice in the matter.

SUCKERS...all of them.

I thought Germans were the major immigrant group to the US.
How many of the 13 colonies were founded by Germans?
In fact, was there a colony not founded by the English?
Immigration is irrelevant..given that the immigrants conformed to the dominant culture...English....then American.

LOL...Is that why we fought a war of independence to separate from England?

You people....
You people indeed...

What language are you writing in? What language do you speak? What stories were you told in school..and whose history was predominant?

Do you get what 'We are the descendants of England, culturally.' even means?
Hint: it has Jack-shit to do with the Revolutionary War.

Our political separation from England has naught to do with our cultural beginnings --which, at the heart of it, we brought with us from England.

Most of the colonists who originally came here were escaping religious persecution from England. That was the whole freaking point of leaving England.

Your views of history are simplistic and moronic.

Nobody voted for you. Nobody cares that “you don’t like the method”. You are nobody. President Trump was elected three times. You are a Stain, pretending.

Damn..doubling down on stupid, are you?

Contrary to the story of 'fleeing religious persecution'--which really only applies to Massachusetts and Maryland--most colonists came here for financial or legal reasons..seeking a new start...many of them transported for legal issues, 120,000 or so, or emigrated using indentured servitude to pay their way.

The whole freaking point of leaving England was to find a better life....the free land aspect cannot be ignored either..a very powerful incentive.
Many rich land-owners in England payed for their excess population to be shipped to the colonies--as the Enclosure Acts made many large estates more efficient and the excess population a nuisance.

English control of North America was never inevitable.

If France had won the French & Indian War, the history of North America would have been very different. And if France had a stronger navy, they probably would have won.

And the vast majority of immigrants after 1800 did not come from England.

Almost as big a pile of shit as Chump can heap. One more shovel full and it will sway in the wind.
/----/ democRATs can only throw stones. They never offer solutions. It's just Orange Man Bad.
