But Zelensky is a saint!

Lousy Putin loving AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL!

They have been doing it from the start although initially it was restricted to retreating front line troops .

So, what? How soon will people start supporting the idea that American troops should just fight the war for them since the Ukies can't manage by themselves? So Joe Biden can get himself re-elected.

September 1 to Dec. 15 is my guess, sometime in there, U.S. troops on the ground in the Ukraine.

duped again

  • Overall, we rate the Australian National Review as right-leaning and a strong conspiracy and pseudoscience source based on promoting false or misleading scientific claims.

Don't all democracies use children as shields? Zelensky is a tyrant.

Nice ad hominem attack on sources without even attempting to dispute the fact that Amnesty International made the statement as quoted in the article.

You rubes are so easy to control. If you wake up for a half a second, they give a protected opinion gaslight & you shove that head right back up there for another smelly nap.

Russia continues to commit war crimes on Ukrainian soil

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has caused Ukrainian citizens to endure serious violations of international humanitarian law, including the unlawful killing and injury of civilians, destruction of infrastructure, and blocking of desperately needed aid, all of which may constitute war crimes.

Amnesty International is working to document evidence of these crimes as Russian forces have attacked hospitals, schools and civilian homes and have employed deadly “surrender or starve” sieges on civilians, while Amnesty International researchers have found that Russia is forcibly transferring Ukrainian people into Russia through the process of ‘filtration’.

Russian authorities forcibly transferred and deported civilians from occupied areas of Ukraine in what amounted to war crimes and likely crimes against humanity, Amnesty International said in a new report published today.

The report, “Like a Prison Convoy”: Russia’s Unlawful Transfer of Civilians in Ukraine and Abuses During ‘Filtration’, details how Russian and Russian-controlled forces forcibly transferred civilians from occupied Ukraine further into Russian-controlled areas or into Russia. Children have been separated from their families during the process, in violation of international humanitarian law.

Civilians told Amnesty International how they were forced through abusive screening processes – known as ‘filtration’ – which sometimes resulted in arbitrary detention, torture, and other ill-treatment.

Russia’s crackdown on protests and media

Imprisonment, censorship, disinformation

The Russian authorities have unleashed an unprecedented, nationwide crackdown on independent journalism, anti-war protests and dissenting voices following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Kremlin is determined to mask the human cost of its war and has blocked independent news and social media sites that reveal the true impact and devastation of the invasion. Meanwhile, anyone caught spreading “fake news” about the conflict faces a prison sentence of up to 15 years.

In Russia thousands of protesters have been arbitrarily detained since the start of the invasion, while the media blackout seeks to entirely deprive the Russian people of access to objective, trustworthy information about the conflict. As repression mounts, many journalists and monitors have faced persecution while others have had to flee the country. At least 150 critical journalists have fled the country so far. Amnesty International’s recent report, ‘Russia: “You will be arrested anyway”, details Russia’s reprisals against monitors and media workers who report on the protests.

“Maria Ponomarenko’s sentence shows that in Russia telling the truth, denouncing a war crime and demanding justice for the killing of civilians, has itself become a grave offence punishable by many years in prison. Her sentence is yet another example of injustice and the cynicism of the authorities in Russia, which are disturbingly routine. The authorities are trying to lock up all those who disagree with them and intimidate others to stay silent and look the other way rather than risk years behind bars.”

Opposition politician Ilya Yashin sentenced to eight and half years in jail for denouncing Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine

Reacting to the news that a court in Russia has sentenced Ilya Yashin, an opposition activist and former elected head of a Moscow municipal district council, to eightand halfyears in jail on charges of disseminating “knowingly false information” for denouncing war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine, Natalia Zviagina, Amnesty International’s Russia Director, said:

“Heavy fines, imprisonment, loss of livelihood, harassment, and physical attacks are all being used to silence those who protest or speak out against the war of aggression against Ukraine. In today’s Russia, telling the truth about human rights violations has literally been made a crime. Considerable personal risk has never deterred Ilya Yashin from speaking truth to power. As many others, he could not stay silent about the Russian forces’ killing of civilians in Bucha. Now he’s paying a high price for speaking out, facing eight and half years behind bars.”

Russian forces extrajudicially executing civilians in apparent war crimes – new testimony

Russian military forces have extrajudicially executed civilians in Ukraine in apparent war crimes, Amnesty International said today as it published new testimony following on-the-ground research.

Amnesty International’s Crisis Response investigators interviewed more than 20 people from villages and towns close to Kyiv, several of whom had witnessed or had direct knowledge of horrifying violence committed by Russian forces.

They repeatedly told of deliberate killings, unlawful violence, and widespread intimidation by Russian forces against unarmed civilians across the Kyiv region.

“Testimonies shows that unarmed civilians in Ukraine are being killed in their homes and streets in acts of unspeakable cruelty and shocking brutality.

“The intentional killing of civilians is a human rights violation and a war crime. These deaths must be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible must be prosecuted, including up the chain of command.”

To date, Amnesty International has obtained evidence that civilians were killed in indiscriminate attacks in Kharkiv and Sumy Oblast, documented an airstrike that killed civilians queueing for food in Chernihiv, and gathered evidence from civilians living under siege in Kharkiv, Izium and Mariupol.

Russia forcibly removes children from their home country and then gang rapes them.
