Amazon and the blob have something in common. And it's not how much they made.

Who wrote the tax laws?
Behind the scenes, BIG MONEY choses, grooms and supports political candidates that further their OWN interests.

With control of MEDIA outlets, it is hard to beat those candidates whom have been green-lighted by BIG money and those are the people who write TAX LAWS.

you're just figuring that out now?

FYI it's always been like that. This country's government was bought a long time ago and the thing most people don't realize is that both parties have been bought by the same people

Did Amazon lie about how much their business was worth?

That is socialism for you--the politicians take bribes from the ubber rich who then get loop holes in exchange so they don't pay taxes leaving the working class to do it. It's why Bezos supports dems. The more money that the government takes from workers and redistributes means more money for him.......................the more taxes on the others, the less competition that he has so he again makes more money.

This is why the really rich are dems and love TAXES-------they make money off it and they don't pay like everyone else.............

The article from the OP says, "Like many other large companies, Amazon reduces its effective tax rate each year using a variety of credits, rebates and loopholes."

I thought Democrats loved tax credits, rebates, and loopholes.

They sure do put a lot of them into the tax code.

So why are they complaining?

It slipped my mind until the article reminded me: (Amazon founder Jeffrey P. Bezos owns The Washington Post.)

Yup

Which is why we need to scrap our ridiculously complicated tax system and start over
