Oh man. The memories to that tune. And that time. Sniff. I miss it.

I truly feel we were blessed to have been young and alive back in the late '60's...

nothing I've seen since then could possibly come close to those times for a young person...

more crowd scenes from the late 60's...

all of which seem like they coulda been filmed only just yesterday...

so sweet...

Summer of '69, I saw Janis perform at a rock festival (not Woodstock...)

I was standing at the edge of the stage... she was no more'n 10 yards away...

a life-changing experience for me...

face it Jan... if you weren't there for the experience,

you're envious of us geezers... :)

 Alright...one for you Bill!

so... based on your response...

can I assure you're a target for those bothersome AARP mailings...? :)

I'm off to bed to hum myself to sleep with a hope I dream of the woodstock days.

Night all.

Not only that, but I'm a card carrying member! :)

Our generation was so wealthy by comparison to today's youth.

Although I have to tell you that mostly what people think of as 'THE 60'S" really happened in most of the nation the early 70s.

Ya know what I most miss about those times?

You used to be able to hitchhike mostly without fear of being arrested or murdered.

Kids really do not have that kind of freedom today.

Wasn't far from Woodstock when it happened. I spent that summer as a counselor at a Scout camp in northern NJ. We would take a week to set up the camp, but only a weekend to knock it down for the winter. So, when three guys took off for the concert it added extra work and really pissed off the rest of us. A few days later I got home, watched TV reports and my mood changed from anger to jealousy. I WAS SO CLOSE!!!

True about the hitchhiking. During college the only times I got a ride to or from home was at the beginning and end of semesters. The other times I visited or went anywhere, it was by thumb. When I see people hitchhiking to today I think "are they crazy or are they dangerous". Didn't think about it much back then.

I hitched across Western Canada to pick apples in the Okanagan for summer and did this for three years in the mid 70s. I wasn't hurt and it was a great way to meet people. I had a tent and all the stuff to take care of myself and there were hostels across the Trans-Canada highway as well as in Kelowna, etc.

It was a great time for me and grand memories. My first Quebecois summer love came from these excursions. ;)

I wouldn't do it today, that's for certain. Not knowing what it's like was freeing but that may be the same for them today.
