I confess , I am a compulsive hoarder of U.S. commemorative quarters. I check all my change and hoard the historical stuff. I know they are only worth a quarter dollar but it seems worthwhile somehow. Today I found a quarter that depicts somebody named Alma Mankiller. I am fairly proficient in American history but I didn't recognize the name. Is it possible that the Feds decided to include mass murderers on a U.S. Coin? But no, Alma was a Indian activist who participated in the Indian takeover of Alcatraz back in the 60's. She became a Cherokee Chief when her boss was promoted. She died in 2010 of cancer. A noble life but how does it qualify for a U.S. coin strike?
