All Praise W for decrying distrust in govt. He's a Sage

To keep your arguments congruent, you should distrust the founders of your governments, Shirley? I mean, it all sprang from those untrustworthy beginnings.
It was our Founders here who distrusted their government so much they overthrew it. The government they created gave citizens the right to keep and bear arms to overthrow the government they had created if and when it became too oppressive.

A healthy distrust of ANY government is called wisdom.

Right. It's not as though intelligence was made to fit the policy. Heavens forfend.

February 24, 2001: Powell Says Iraq Poses No Threat
Secretary of State Colin Powell travels to Cairo and meets with his counterpart Amre Moussa. Following up on his statements from the day before (see February 23, 2001), Powell says sanctions against the Iraqi government: “[F]rankly they have worked. [Saddam Hussein] has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq….” Powell adds, “[H]e threatens not the United States.”
That’s one data point that in hindsight proved to be correct. What were Defense and National security advisors saying at the time? Again, the Bush Administration spent more than a year laying out the case. Democrats who voted in favor of attacking Iraq voted not once but twice. Amazing how they hung on to every word from Bush as their basis for their vote.

So if you're wise you'll distrust what Washington and the rest created. How come you can't follow your own argument?

Well, no, they trusted the CIA intelligence which is supposed to be apolitical. Turns out it wasn't. It hinged on a questionable source codenamed "curveball". Turns out he was lying his ass off to them.

You mean the SoS giving a straight up report showing he knows exactly what's going on? One data point in hindsight? Yeah right. It wasn't in hindsight. Ffs. Still, no one can say you guys didn't get what you deserved.

One can see how easy it was for them to fool you.

No they didn't. They stovepiped and ignored caution and fitted 'facts' to policy.

The fooled the rubes like LeftofLeft. Not that the rubes weren't demanding to be fooled, agreed.

You people Blame Bush for everything; including Democrats in Congress voting twice to support him on going to war with Iraq.

Yeah...it wasn't until later that the Congress found out the CIA--at the direction of Cheney--had cooked the intelligence and was relying on assets that were not theirs.

Barbara Lee is a Democrat. The only congress critter who voted against authorizing the use of force against Iraq. Credit where due. Otherwise, both sides of the duopoly sucked back then and still suck now.

I distrust government. If I had been alive during Washington‘s time as President I would have suspected he might try to be a life long President. Some did suspect that and were pleased when he limited himself to two terms.

I feel a politician has to earn my trust and continue to earn it as long as he is in office. I don’t care who he is. Basically I view career politicians the same as I do the guy who sells used cars at Uncle Sam‘s Car Sales.
