Not to mention, we never lived under an authoritarian regime that will instigate protest and use it as warped justification for brutal actions, beating, arresting, even shooting Americans. We never had a president bombing small boats in international waters and then murdering survivors clinging to the wreckage. We never had a President kidnapping the head (even if he is a brutal communist sonovabitch) of a foreign government in the dead of night, then declaring himself acting President of that country, while discussing actions against allied nations and even takeover by force of a NATO ally, and that after long history of supporting Russia attacking a neighbor country, while Putin hints at threats to NATO.
We, as a nation, used to be against all these things. Yes. It has gotten weird out there, and we are truely living in different times, whether the majority of American approve it or not. Polling shows, America does not like it, but Republicans too spineless to stand up and set limits, fearing political reprisal, so we are stuck with it, for the moment.
