The reasons for all the bloodshed in Yugoslavia in the 1990s was the Ottoman Empire's invasion from Turkey in the period 1500-1800 and forcibly converting the Orthodox Christians. A lot of media outlets have stories that are designed to appeal to the people reading them.

Al Jazeera will do the same. It's much better, however, than A LOT of US media. It's a good source for information. You just have to be smart enough to know what you're reading.
