Air India crash live: London-bound passenger plane carrying more 240 people crashes after take-off in India

Black smoke was seen rising over a residential area after Air India flight AI171 to Gatwick crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad.

They haven't even gotten to that yet. It crashed in a residential neighborhood. They only know about the fatalities on the plane right now.

Video is coming out.
The plane crashed into a hospital and residential neighborhood. The fireball wasn't a good sign of a lack of casualties.

The video clearly shows the jet losing power shortly after takeoff. Could be bird strikes or something else wrong with the engines because of it's altitude during the takeoff.

At a guess we are looking at 1,000+ dead/injured from the crash not on the plane.

It's India, so it was probably a 20 seater plane with 220 clung to the outside.

It looks like they still had control but no thrust/power.

Looks like a glide, not a stall.

Right at takeoff it will be fully loaded with fuel, so a huge explosion is expected.

Its a shocking event. No doubt DEI is to blame. Has flying ever been so risky ?
