Over the past few years we have heard right-wing white men running their mouths about airlines and DEI. So let's look at the record.

Air traffic controllers are not employed by airlines.

The last 10% is counted in each of the preceding categories. It's called math. A person who is Black and Hispanic is counted twice, once in each category.

My grandsons are mixed race, being white, black and Hispanic all!

Hey IM2, that url you posted is really good in that it's a lot more interactive & visual than the NTSB database. I haven't seen any recent reports but back when I was reporting on aviation safety and the board, the investigative reports didn't contain photos that I recall but they did contain illustrations and charts. That's why the listing at your url gives a very different perspective particularly for a layman audience.

Thank you...

nope, you're wrong. the title of the last 10% says two races. That implies someone who is a mixed race person. Black is one Race and Hispanic is one race. Neither is two races alone. So why would they be counted in two or more?

Each person is counted in their race and if they are two or more, they are counted in the last category. It is not fucking rocket science!

My grandsons would appear on the chart as black and white once each and then be counted as mixed race.

By some definitions, because my great grandfather was a mulatto, I am considered black. I am about as white as snow, but I am genetically 1% black. My grandsons would appear also as two or more races, which is itself a separate category. That's why it is listed that way.

What I find funny is that race and ethnicity is meaning less and less each day. Genetics is a funny thing. My grandsons' last name is Hispanic. One looks a lot like me and has white skin and feature. His brother looks like his black grandmother on his father's side, as he is dark-skinned with, for lack of a better term, a "Fro" hairdo. My granddaughter is Hispanic from her mother's side with an Old world Spanish surname. She looks like a Viking princess from my side of the family!

that has no logic. There would not be a need for a two or more race if they were already counted.

naw.

Technically, most everyone has some black percentages from what has been stated over the years.

You really are a statistical moron. If I had 100 employees of various races and 10 percent considered themselves
a mix of two or more races, how many people would appear in the classifications? There would be 110 classifications for 100 employees. Separating them into a separate category clarifies the disconnect in the data. It is just like surveys on this forum where you can select more than one answer. If you check, the numbers never add up correctly.
Well, that is exactly how they are counted by their school system.

Some minute past ancestry maybe, but not percentages. My daughter was a biology major and one of her specific talents was as a geneticist. She could explain it in greater detail, but gene expression screws up the percentages based on dominance of certain traits.

Yet there was a category for "Two or more races", go figure.

Yes, because it indicates that people chose more than one race. You guys are splitting hairs. The method is to detail the specifics. That is all. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't mean it's wrong. Do you guys believe in a flat earth like some people because they don't understand math or science?

Just pointing out they didn't likely count anyone twice.
