What do they have against airplanes ?
The day after 9/11, all flights were cancelled. The temp on the earth raised between 2 and 3 degrees over what it should have been. The day after the flights were resumed, the temp went down those 2 to 3 degrees. Airplanes do affect the environment whether you admit it or not.
As for Cortez, the new green deal is something that we all should be working towards. But we can't do it all at once, obviously. And Air Travel is about the last thing that will be conquered. Maybe we can do something about the short hops through rails or tubes but overseas is way, way down the road.
I predict that within 15 years, we are going to have electric Aircraft commuters that will be used in the place of the 10 to 50 passenger planes. The major cost of any airplane is the fuel. Doing it electric the cost of operation goes way, way down and you can use smaller planes that make numerous flights just like shuttle buses from city to city. There are already 4 place electric planes with a 2 hour range. With the technology going into the cars as rapidly as it is, there is no reason there won't be a 10 or 15 place commuter plane in less than 15 years. Imagine every 20 minute flights from NYC to Washington DC instead of the twice daily and it's at a fraction of the cost to operate. So, Dorathy, you can jeer and laugh but you would be mostly wrong.
As for the buildings, I don't look for many households to do the upgrades like that. But I do see a lot of Industry doing it because it's just good business. And I see a lot of new construction homes with this built in. Again, it just makes good sense. There is no law that says they have to and the smart ones will do it anyway. But the greedy bastards won't.
We are able to do some of the things on the new green deal now, others in the near future, while the rest is way down the road if ever. But to not try just kisses your grand children's ass goodbye.
