LOL Christ ain't coming back any time soon and I would bet anything on that. But serious now, there are so many religions and so many belief systems, do you guys ever doubt for a moment? The Patriot Act goes back nearly 1/4 century and was enacted by the Bush Administration after 9/11. It was a hot and huge news item. It expanded the government's power to spy on it's citizens and detain people without trial just because they come up with a "reason". Being concerned about rights and liberties thereof seems very reasonable to me. Kind of like if they pass a law that says you have to pass a government psychiatric exam to own a gun...as if the government couldn't arrange who passes and who doesn't just by owning some psychiatrists. Very thin line they're walking there.

No. Many people do...but that's not to say that you won't start to be monitored for things you say. And what if some bureaucrat for whatever reason decides to make more out of it than what it is? What if you start getting denied travel visas and things like that?

You know, my wife is an RN from Peru. She came here in late 2006 and eventually got her citizenship. Her best friend was also an RN from Peru but for some reason which was never explained they kept denying her a Visa! She decided to emigrate to Italy instead, and she still works there today as an Italian citizen. All I can figure about that is the fact that she once dated a Spanish intelligence agent. Maybe our government knew about that and thought she might know things that she shouldn't know as a result of that. But now you see how little things could really be used against you, maybe very subjectively.... Just because somebody somewhere assigned to your case says so??

That's why it's very important not to cross those lines and to hang on to our rights with all we've got. Obviously we're not a safer better country than we were in 2001. We have had several terrorist attacks since then like the guy who bombed the Boston Marathon a while back. I am not completely convinced that 9/11 wasn't an inside job done explicitly so they could simply pass the Patriot Act! So why do we need that shit if our country isn't really any better or safer?
