AG William Barr’s Son-in-Law Just Landed a Job Advising Trump on “Legal Issues”

williambarr.jpg

CNN reports that McGaughey, the husband of Barr’s youngest daughter, has been hired as an attorney in the White House counsel’s office, where he’ll “advise the president, the executive office, and White House staff on legal issues concerning the president and the presidency.” While the division is separate from the legal team that defends Trump in the Russia investigation—a group of leading lights that includes Rudy “maybe there was collusion” Giuliani—its work nevertheless does “intersect with the investigation.” (Trump reportedly blamed former White House counsel Don McGahn for failing to bring the probe to a close.) Meanwhile, Mary Daly, Barr’s oldest daughter, will be leaving her current job in the deputy attorney general’s office for a gig at the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), which has had its own Russian intrigues.

Barr, of course, has his own special conflicts of interest when it comes to Robert Mueller’s probe. Last June, he sent an unsolicited 20-page memo to the Justice Department calling the inquiry into potential obstruction of justice by Trump “fatally misconceived” and Mueller’s actions “grossly irresponsible,” and insisting “Mueller should not be permitted to demand that the President submit to interrogation about alleged obstruction.” (Presumably, the memo didn’t hurt Barr’s position on the short list to replace the long-suffering Jeff Sessions.) While Barr said in January that he would not end the Mueller inquiry without cause if asked to do so by the president, he also told lawmakers he saw no reason to recuse himself in light of the memo, saying he would “seek the counsel of Justice Department ethics officials” but would not necessarily take their advice.

Walter Shaub, the former director of the Office of Government Ethics, said it was a “good idea” for McGaughey and Daly to leave the D.O.J., but added that McGaughey’s beeline for the White House was “concerning.” “That’s troubling because it raises further questions about Barr's independence,” he told CNN.

More nepotism in government. Is Barr just another shady operator? The more I'm hearing about Barr - the shadier he sounds. Rachel Maddow just said that he recommended the pardoning of six senior administration officials in the Iran-Contra scandal - including the Secretary of Defense. Barr does not leave me with a warm feeling that Mueller is safe. Why did Trump nominate Barr? Why did Barr want the job? I don't trust Barr.

The swamp is just being re-stocked with different creatures.

Okay, Sparkey, is your issue with Barr, the son-in-law, or you just want to piss and moan?

The issue is nepotism in government. Clearly this needs to be stopped. It shows the corruption of Trump.

We are unfortunately like the last years of ROME. They let the barbarians into their empire or could not stop them as they were in decline.

Its apparent some people have a DNA proclivity toward peeing on themselves and enjoying it, go figure.

Yep, don't recall too much complaining during Obama years, so I'm guessing it's just another Trump thing.

With the commies gearing up for tons of ridiculous investigations the president will need a shit load of competent lawyers, why would he not hire Barr's son if he is competent and available?

...Okay, Sparkey, is your issue with Barr, the son-in-law, or you just want to piss and moan?
Observe...

1. Mueller finds something damaging to Trump

2. Mueller needs more evidence to back it up, and knows that Trump is in possession of that evidence

3. Barr supervises Mueller, and learns of this state of affairs

4. Barr tells his son-in-law

5. His son-in-law tells Trump

6. Trump destroys the evidence

7. Justice is thwarted

8. Trump and his minions laugh at all of us (you included)

And that's only one of a great many variations on the theme.

Do you understand now?

It's been two fricken years, what, in your demented mind, do you feel Mueller will find that he didn't know 12 months ago...dumbass.
Never mind the personal insults...

Do you now understand that Insider Information can be conveyed inappropriately in this context?

Whether it was uncovered two years ago, last week, or yesterday... if information is leaked, evidence can be destroyed, etc.

That is what the fuss is all about... dolt.

My apologies, I forgot personal insults are only permitted from libs...dumbass.
Unfortunately, your blindingly-brilliant come-back does nothing to address Barr's son-in-law now working for The Creature.

Doesn't matter.

1. Trump hires Barr.

2. Barr walked in the door at DoJ having ridiculed and disparaged the Mueller investigation.

3. Barr admits having talked to Trump about various aspects of the Mueller investigation.

4. Trump then hires Barr's son-in-law.

5. Barr no longer has to report new developments in the Mueller investigation directly to Trump.

6. Instead... Barr talks to his son-in-law.

7. The son-in-law talks to Trump.

8. The damage is done.

That's not kornspiracy... that's logic.

Did you read the OP? Barr's son-in-law and older daughter both worked for the DOJ, in DC, both had to leave when Barr was confirmed. Barr's son-in-law needed a job so he can support his family. He won't be working for Trumps personal legal team which deals with Mueller. He'll be working for the WH counsels office where they'll be preparing documents for the multitude of investigations coming from he house. Eventually the WH counsels office will likely have more than 100 lawyers working for them. They have about 28 now.

.

Barr has sent a message to mueller

It's now time to drop the hammer

Bringing in people who sees this as a blackmail crime by mueller

You mean like how the Comey FBI allowed Hillary to delete email and destroy cell phones and laptops? Or more along the lines of how Rosenstein and McCabe (whose wife received large donations funneled from the Clintons) talked about wiretapping TRUMP? Or how Mueller "accidentally" deleted texts from Strozk and Page? Or how Bill meet with Lynch days before Comey let her off the hook?
Yes.

That's EXACTLY what I mean.

It was wrong then.

It is wrong now.

Agreed?

Problem is the things I outlined are not speculations, they're facts. When you have one-sided justice don't be surprised when people on the other side are willing to overlook things in the pursuit of equal justice.
