It's obvious that Ben Franklin knew that the day would come that politicians would some day become tyrants and enemies of the Republic.
We are seeing it first hand in the second decade of this century.

Yeah, it's scary. The party of handouts paid for by others have the majority in Congress, purportedly outnumber declared Republican, and they can vote to take more earnings from the working (taxpaying) population simply by voting to do so.

Just like the old adage about Socialism, they can do this until they run out of other people's money.
