It was called the "divine right of kings" back then, most of Europe had it, we used it to justify the crusades too.Did they say their got the right to do so from the Gospel? Did they buy slaves from Africans and Muslims?
Yes some did, just as some Christians thought the Bible gave them the right to colonize primitive savages or supply weapons to slaughter thousands of Palestinian civilians.Clearly, Muslim pirates and terrorists believe themselves to be following the Koran when they enslave or kill non-Muslims.
