He apparently took a fall in his studio, hit his, had a brain bleed, and wound up on life support. No word on whether or not the family pulled the plug...

Part of the soundtrack of my life...

I was an early adopter of sorts; telling everyone that New York Groove was great....

When did we get this old?

This was the original report I saw earlier today. It mentions the fall and brain bleed...

All of us from that time & era are rapidly & I do mean RAPIDLY checking out. It's just the reverse of the Hotel California; "U can resist checkout any time U want, but your gonna leave!"

Ace Frehley, Kiss Lead Guitarist and Solo Artist, Dies at 74

Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley, co-founder and lead guitarist of the legendary rock band Kiss, has died following injuries suffered during a fall last month, according to a statement from his family. He was 74.

Frehley’s family issued the following statement:

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers, and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!”

Commentary:

What is there to say? The best music is getting old and vanishing before our eyes. This is just one more player from the soundtrack of My childhood.

What better way to honor him than in music?

Somewhere or the other in my youth I acquired a copy of both their Double Platinum and Love Gun albums, the latter still had the paper gun thing that came with it. Not sure if I still have them or not, but record players were more or less extinct so I never listened to the actual records once I had them.
