You know…we’ve been down that road before. Our income tax was originally set up to be a wealth tax on the top 2% of earners..but now everyone pays it.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

Well, if the rich didn't run the government for themselves, it wouldn't be like this.

I've posted numerous times on this forum how that could be changed, and most of the time people are like "no, we don't have Proportional Representation" or "We already have Proportional Representation" or "this isn't Germany" or "FHHFDHFSHDHSFSJFSDJFSDSDFKJESFHSD" while drooling on the floor.

Every government in the history of the planet has been run by and for the benefit of the rich.

Why pretend that lack of money is the problem? There is plenty of tax revenue but those who waste it , simply demand more and say they dont have enough.

Will you hold Democrats responsible for reckless spending?

Here is a fun fact. Within 1.5 months, CA witnessed $1 trillion of capital drain out of the state. Thanks to greedy leftists for politicizing children to justify taxing billionaires. Even the leftist Zuckerberg is saying bye to CA.

It took the Federal Reserve Act and the 16th Amendment conveniently done around the same time in 1913 to start to set us on this course.

Seeing as I'm not a Democrat, yes.

There are those on both sides who don't seem to have a proper view of what government is actually for. In fact, it seems like most of the US is like that.

Get Proportional Representation and the politicians will have to be better at their jobs because it's harder for the rich to prop them up with money.

The general point of this post was, back then, their idea was “tax the rich”, and eventually we all ended up paying an income tax. Those who are calling for it now, do you not think the same will happen?

Government is not known for their frugal ways. If they see a new pot of money, they’ll just look for new programs to spend it on, and we’ll be right back in the same hole we were just in, and the government will say “well, that wealth tax that was originally for people making over 10 million…maybe that should be extended to people making over 2 million.”. Then that money will be wasted, and they’ll come back and say “well we need to extend that down to $400,000”….eventually, we’ll ALL be paying a “wealth tax”.

A wealth tax is nothing like an income tax. A wealth tax is applied to unrealized capital gains such as your house, stocks, cars boats any property you own. If your house went up in value as they do every year you will be taxed on that increase. Own a boat or nice car you will pay the tax on the value of it. Own stocks and as they increase you will pay the tax. Where is the money coming from. Youll have to sell something. There will be huge sell off in the market to pay the tax. The DOW will crash because it wont pay to invest. Its the governments license to steal your property

We have more than one state in USA, What's the deal with only focus on a few states?
