Would think teens polled are more willing to answer the questions truthfully now than then. And with tv depicting sexuality in ways it didn't back then, there's likely some objective evidence the % is higher now too. If having sex wasn't ubiquitos back then you might think to make out or cop a feel (as depicted in "Happy Days" as with The Fonz snapping his fingers and a girl's bra falling off) but actually having sex may not occur to them as it does now when the act is more explicitly discussed, depicted, and the allusions replaced with actual mentionings.

To me, sex is the very best thing people can do together. That we portray it oppositely is a flashing neon billboard at night to me so it's amusing that people with straight faces try and depict it thusly. Especially when animated series where the characters aren't quite human feels the need to blur "nudity."

We as a society are totally ass-backwards about sex. We tolerate violence and glamourize it yet condemn sex and sexuality. Everyone wants sex, no one wants to be assaulted or killed so it's puzzling.
