Rocco...it seems like the US is already deeply involved in the quagmire and bears far more responsibility for its current state than either Russia or China. There's also an issue raised by Jonathon Cook lately referring to 2007's Annapolis meetings:georgephillip, et al,
No, --- This is wrong. First, the US should not get involved, under any circumstances; or for any reason.
(COMMENT)How is any agreement, accidental or otherwise, going to survive without NATO peacekeepers under US officers in the Jordan Valley for at least the next generation?
If, for any reason, UN Peacekeepers are needed - to be deployed, they should be either Russian [Special Forces (Spetsnaz)] or Chinese (People's Liberation Army Special Operations Forces); definitely not American. Neither the Chinese or the Russians will take any disrespect or place themselves in a position in which the Palestinians can manipulate them. They have the ability to quietly and firmly send a message to the Palestinian Leadership in ways that the Palestinians could only appreciate.

"The main sticking point is the Jordan Valley, an area that was expected to comprise nearly a quarter of a future Palestinian state.
"Gen Allen has indulged an Israeli demand that it be allowed to continue a long-term military presence in the Jordan Valley, with a reassessment by the US in 10-15 years time.
"That is a retreat from Washingtons earlier commitment at the Annapolis talks of 2007 that no Israeli soldiers would be stationed in the West Bank following an agreement.
"Security guarantees were to be provided instead by Nato troops, under US command.
"The new proposal should be a deal-breaker.
"The valley is a vital resource for the Palestinians, one they have been effectively stripped of for decades by Israels exaggerated 'security needs'.

I actually like your idea of UNSC peacekeepers in the Jordan Valley, but I think China should have the option of sub-contracting some of its responsibilities to the North Koreans, just to keep the Jews honest.
If we add the US military to the mix, I'm pretty sure there could be some huge pay-per-view revenues from cage fights featuring the best empty-handed fighters from all the peacekeepers with the IDF waiting for the winner in Bethlehem. (maybe next Christmas?)

And asshole Kerry keeps trying different colors of lipstick on that pig and still can't get it to fly.
