So much for some stupid supposed deal...I wouldn't give up anything.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas presented his terms for the acceptance of a U.S.-backed framework agreement with Israel to the Arab League over the weekend in Cairo, Ma’an News Agency reported on Monday. Among Abbas’ conditions, there is to be no recognition of Israel as a Jewish State.

Ma’an’s source is Muhammad Sabih, Palestinian Affairs Representative to the Arab League.

According to Sabih, Abbas notified the Arab League as to U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s plan to unveil the framework peace agreement at the end of December. Kerry’s proposal includes an outline of the future borders of a Palestinian state, Sabih said.

Sabih also told Ma’an that the Palestinian Authority does not plan to respond to the U.S. proposal immediately. Rather, Abbas asserted that once the Americans present their peace plan, the PA will unveil the framework to the Arab League. At that point, representatives of Arab nations will convene to decide on whether to accept or reject Kerry’s path to peace.

Sabih also said that Abbas seeks to reach a final status agreement and would therefore reject any interim deal. Furthermore, according to Sabih, Abbas will reject any proposal that requires the establishment of a demilitarized Palestinian-Arab state

Better make some concessions, folks, or Israel, with US's support, will create an unilateral solution that will recognize the Jewish State and a demilitarized Palestinian-Arab State with Jerusalem the Jewish capitol and no right of return. Period.

There is a surprise.

Probably, but some Palestinian leaders need to take that step. It is past due that they accept Israel and recognize it's right to exist. Israel and palestine will do better, more prosperous in peace and cooperation. War just perpetuates the suffering of the palestinian people, and Israeli.

Abbas will be assassinated if he publicly accepts any treaty with Israel.

Better make some concessions, folks, or Israel, with US's support, will create an unilateral solution that will recognize the Jewish State and a demilitarized Palestinian-Arab State with Jerusalem the Jewish capitol and no right of return. Period.

"Period" sounds familiar. Your scenario will never happen with your boy Obama as president... He's a joke

GW DEMANDED a Two State solution in his first 6 months as president.
GW DEMANDED a Two State solution by 2010 in his LAST 6 months as president.
Yeah, he was a REAL FRIEND to Israel.

Yeah, he was a REAL FRIEND to Israel.
With their utter contempt of international law and human rights, why would anyone want to be Israel's friend?

Neither Egypt nor Jordan recognized Israel before the peace agreements.

"On 27 November 2007, Rabbi Dov Lior of the Yesha Rabbis Council called an 'emergency meeting' in order to discuss the upcoming (Annapolis) conference.

"During the meeting, Lior stated: 'No leader, in any generation, has the right to give away Eretz Israel… we call on the Jews abroad, and especially on community leaders and rabbis, to join us in our efforts against this treaty and its implications... Together, we will save the people of Israel from the government's terrible plan.'

"Lior further stated that peace would only be achieved by '[cleansing] the country of Arabs and [resettling] them in the countries where they came from.'[29]

Where do you plan on "resettling" the indigenous Arabs of Palestine?

Time to stop evicting Jews from the homeland for more war

That's your neo-conservatism that you are substituting for American values.

Obama will support such a state as I have proposed.

Wow. What a surprise, he's just about as intolerant as these other animals in charge.

Yet another instance of Palestinians never missing an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Obama has lost all credibility. His promises and guarantees are worthless both domestically and internationally.

Most Americans are strongly pro Israel. That's not going to change. Live with it, or not. Who cares.

et al,

I'm not sure that we all understand what is going on here. This is very strange.

Long-standing Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) official Yasser Abed Rabbo today said the group would be willing to recognize Israel as a “Jewish State” or indeed as whatever it wants provided they are presented with a map of the future Palestinian state that includes all territory seized by Israel in their 1967 invasion.

The "Jewish" State, as recognized by the UN in General Resolution 181(II), can do what it wants. It is part of their "right to self-determination." But I find it odd that the Arab-Palestinian doesn't use this blackmail option for something more substantial.

The Palestinian can demand that Israel call itself the Purple State, but that would not change the historical fact to what the world originally recognized it as.

What Purpose does this serve?

I think this establishes whether or not the Palestinians came in good faith to the Peace Talks.

Most Respectfully,
R

What borders are you considering for that "homeland?"

"Yet the offer points to what is likely the unspoken reality, that both sides have given up on the latest round of talks and are now just making offers 'meant to be rejected' so they can blame the other side for the failure. Still if both sides keep trying to trump the other with elaborate offers they might just stumble into agreement somewhere down the road."

How is any agreement, accidental or otherwise, going to survive without NATO peacekeepers under US officers in the Jordan Valley for at least the next generation?
