A suggestion for improving the U.S. educational system.

Imagine you had to be in the top 5% of the students in terms of SAT scores to major in education and the work load as well as drop out rates were on par with the most rigorous STEM fields. You then jack up teacher salaries with the justification of how elite the profession would be. Education majors would all be a bunch of big brained social recluses obsessed with their field of study. Would that revolutionize our educational system?

I have a better suggestion, however. Only let the top 5% breed.

Let the market set the rates for salaries and tuition.

Stop funding education out of local property taxes. That's strictly ludicrous and accounts in large part for its dysfunctional areas. Fund it from the Treasury general account.
