Being a SCOTUS justice should require supreme intellect and insistence on facts, not some clap trap, pie in the sky theory that a "god" exists and therefore our rights come from her/him. Thomas likes to say that our "rights" emanate from some all powerful nebulous entity in the sky, who supposedly exists although there is not a shred of evidence that this entity is real! Thomas also says that this "god," not government delivered him from the evils of slavery and segregation. I guess he never heard of Abraham Lincoln.

Of course, this kind of nonsense rhetoric that he delivered at the U. of Texas would be well received, since Texas has demonstrated more than once that they are not the smartest state in the Union, really far from it.

After 75+ years on this Rock, in this country I've come to realize that a majority of "the people" don't know or understand the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution that is based upon it.

Most immigrants who become Citizens know our history and government systems better than a majority of those born here, citizens by birth, not by earning it and understanding such.

There's a reason the Constitution is referred to as a USA Citizen's Owners Manual.

God didn't give us anything, much less the Constitution. We are a government, of, by, and for the people who gave the Constitution to ourselves, for the mutual benefit of ourselves.

Unfortunately at city and county levels judges often are elected by the populace, making it something of a popularity contest.

The alternative, being appointed, tends to be the other undesired method often a matter of partisan political patronage.

We need a workable middle ground method ....
