Did we? We have had belief in a supernatural since the dawn of humankind. In history, religion, ethics, philosophy, and psychology "good and evil" is a very common dichotomy, begot from the belief in a supernatural concept. We didn't create the concepts out of nothing. That being the case, humans gave it a name. While the definitions of the two get obfuscated quite frequently, it would appear that good and evil, in themselves, exist outside our human condition.

First we must define evil.

Evil I think is what we define as bad behavior, what ever we consider to be bad.

However, you need to break this down further. What is the difference between evil, stupidity, and insanity. It is a fine line.

I think evil is used when someone seems to benefit from their bad behavior, either with money or sex. However, stupidity is when you have bad behavior that is not rewarded in any way. For example, you walk into a store to rob it using a squirt gun. They laugh at you, call the police, and you wind up sitting in jail afterwards. However, insanity is just bad behavior that seems to have no beneficial goal in mind..
