We have several progressive democrats who are calling for a "Green Deal" and we even have one candidate (the WA governor) who is basing his entire platform on combating climate change, etc.

I am far from arguing the DIRE necessity for the saner party to address this important, survival issue (there is even a federal lawsuit pending, that is making its climb to the SCOTUS for a decision that would hold the federal government in liability for not tackling this issue head-on.)

HOWEVER, the mistake that the Dems. are making is in the VERBIAGE of the policy......Keep stating "Green Deal" and you'll have every greedy energy conglomerate pouring millions to republican congress folks to further deny what is obviously happening to our climate.

INSTEAD, Dems, need to label the policy and effort as an "ECONOMIC Deal"......flaunting American ingenuity to harness NON-polluting energy, and turning such ingenuity into hundred of thousands new jobs and investments that could have the rest of the planet envious of our efforts.

Sure, our current energy companies....and Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran and dozens of other countries would not like such efforts....but, let them all diversify, develop other economies AND help our ailing planet.

Who's to say they won'd do it anyway?

Talk all you want, nothing America does will stop china and india from belching out giant clouds of pollution and dumping industrial waste into the ocean

Exactly!!

We need Econ majors to explain how wasting trillions of dollars on less reliable energy is a great idea for our economy.

I can see why you're just another "follower" listening to what FOX tells you to hear and believe.

Slice it any way you wish, but the U.S. contributes 25-30% of the world's pollutants.

A 3rd party has little chance of winning anyway.

Jill Stein handed the oval office to the current nitwit-in-chief......so, I agree; currently 3rd party candidates are nothing but "spoilers".....

Jill Stein handed the oval office to the current nitwit-in-chief....
Hillary handed it to Trump.

She's blamed everyone but herself for her loss.

at least she knows she won't have a chance at a third try.

I don't know, my friend......but if Dems. cannot win over the catastrophe that is the orange charlatan, maybe they deserve to not win.

well in the end it is just words and if you change it , you won't be fooling no one

they came up with it so be who you are and don't look back

You will have believers, fence sitters, and the antipathetic people

I'm really not interested in not angering those that would be angry about anything.

Fuck em.

We need to DO THE RIGHT THING

Before we don't have a choice anymore

You can put all the lipstick you want on a pig. At the end of the day it’s still a pig

They do not and cannot address this. China puts out over twice the carbon emissions into the atmosphere than we do. And then there's India.
Mention how they are going to reign them in, and all we hear are the sound of deafening crickets!

Congratulations.....You're the first one on this thread that came up with the kind of "conclusion" worthy of any slow-witted 8 years old....
