The republican government in MO repealed a bill providing paid sick leave to workers that was approved by 58% of the voters. For lower income workers a sick day means unpaid bills or food off the table. They caved to a powerful lobbying group composed of industry groups, who of course have more available funds than struggling workers.

Another case of Republican rule, the worst government money can buy.

Sick leave in any form should be up to the employer. Not mandated by a ballot initiative nor government.

When I worked for Dupont you did not accumulate sick leave....If you were sick you stayed home and got paid.

As usual the OP only tells part of the story.

“Under the mandated sick leave, potential abuse is nearly impossible to address,” Gallick told the House Commerce Committee. “Employers cannot ask an employee why they were absent, leaving them vulnerable to lawsuits for merely inquiring.”

In Silicon Valley they switched it all to PTO? If you were sick you could use it. More than three days in row sick they wanted a medical update? from a doctor? Just SHUP with your agenda driven BS. Dirty lying pig should get timeout for Red Signature post.

Billions of dollars are lost when people ditch work, call in sick, and get paid for it. This is an epidemic problem.
That's the other side of the coin that never gets reported.

The right’s war on working Americans continues.

A company can offer paid sick leave if they want

The very best plans treat sick pay and vacation time the same. You have so many days of paid leave. Take unnecessary sick days and you reduce your vacation time. Those who do not abuse the system have a lot more lovely vacation time to do with as they wish.

I've never known anybody with this kind of company policy who didn't like it.

This is what liberals believe democracy is for... voting themselves new benefits.

Here's a novel idea. How about you take it upon yourself to put away two hours of pay each pay period and every month you'll have created a sick day.

The chiseling away at workers continues. Rather disgusting.

And if they font they should be publicly mocked and rificuled. Theres no excuse to mistreat workers. But perhaps you dont like workers.
