Interesting story of how he made his way to America, through Canada.

This man, here as a German prisoner of war, is vastly different than the immigrants here today.

I enjoyed listening to his story and I am happy he decided to call America his home after the war.

The Soviet Union lost approximately 3.2 million soldiers in nazi captivity during the first six months of Operation Barbarossa. And lost mean dead.

By comparison, the United States has lost about 1.19 million service members throughout its entire history, from 1776 to the present, including deaths from disease, accidents, and suicide. The number killed in action alone is estimated to be around 650,000.
