Read the guy goofy post. Don't bother bitching me. You can see the words I quoted from his poorly researched rant that he blamed on government that did not do what he blamed them for doing, as they were not talking about state hospitals and there was no order in place from the Federal or State government preventing the operations. I remember this from a few weeks ago and I went out and checked. It really was just a republican rant. Somewhere that same day I talked about my son picking up a transplant team at the local airport earlier the same week here for a transplant surgery here, and our hospital is partially supported by government, so there was no government shut down of the operations here or there as his article suggested. In the cases mention in the article linked it was decision made privately by the transplant center, most likely about liability. Next?

The article cited that they did not even have a test that was 100% positive that they would not be importing COVID int their transplant center. It is sad, but dangerous. I have been told that having a transplant means you are put on immune system depressants and stay on them afterwards. Pretty dangerous to bring patients in, knowing that one of the biggest causes of post surgical complications is infections picked up in hospitals, especially if you are going to suppress their immune system. Very, very sad, but understandable.

They had to destroy her immune system to build back up, but she had to stay isolated in the hospital for a month after the treatment. Having a highly compromised immune system is something that medical specialists deal with every day . They don't "stop everything" when there is a new bug going around.

Apparently they do now. I have not heard it is a government order. Maybe they are afraid of a worse outcome rate and someone suing for bad medical judgment. It isn't everywhere. My son picked up a transplant team at the airport for a transplant of some kind in our town just last week. I didn't even know they did transplants here.

Hell heart transplants are essentially one day surgeries. They keep you in hospital a few extra days just to test you to see if you are rejecting the organ before sending you home.
They usually have patients up and walking within hours of leaving recovery

Not personally but I recall my dad talking about the first mechanical heart patient that was sort of a national saga up until he eventually died. Anyway, my old neighbor's brother had to have a heart transplant after chemo destroyed his. I was shocked when she told me that she had already spoken to him and he was up walking around just hours after the surgery. It is amazing.
