I really do like C-Span most of the time. They have great programs, much better than most of what is found on PBS. There lesson plans are also great, not to mention that I've received two small grants/awards from them. I use their stuff all the time in the classroom.

But every once in awhile...

Just got this email :

STUDENTS & LEADERS: LOS ANGELES
www.studentsandleaders.org
Lessons on Leadership at Schools in Los Angeles and Orange Counties

Events will air from Monday, March 21 - Friday, March 25
9pm ET & 10pm ET on C-SPAN 2, or
Watch at http://www.studentsandleaders.org/la/video/
(**On Wednesday, March 23, a third program will air at 11pm ET.**)

Starting this Monday, bring STUDENTS & LEADERS: LOS ANGELES, C-SPAN's
third collaborative Students & Leaders project, into your classroom.
Each program brings national leaders face-to-face with students to discuss
leadership and public service. In the programs, members of the
entertainment industry, elected or appointed officials, and national business
leaders will "return to the classroom" to discuss their lives and
careers and the concepts of LEADERSHIP and PUBLIC SERVICE with a group of
students who will have a chance to ask questions and offer their own
opinions.

Between March 21-25, 2005, events will air on C-SPAN 2, one beginning
at 9pm ET, the other at 10pm ET. (On Wednesday, March 23, a third
program will air at 11pm ET.) To find more details about the project, a
complete schedule of schools and speakers, lesson plans, archived video, and
other teaching materials for STUDENTS & LEADERS, visit

Are you upset with the choice of speakers?

Richard Riordan, California Secretary of Education (formerly the most sane mayor in the history of LA)
Michael Crichton, Author (debunked the global warming myth in his latest book "State of Fear")

Not familiar with the other speakers.

A soft "liberal" or two were snuck in. C-Span should have invited only Republican conservatives. Since they didn't, that perhaps demonstrates that C-Span has a "liberal" bias. You know, like PBS. That's a "communist" network of course. Just like all the others with the exception of "fair and unbiased" FoxNews.

Ooooppppsss. Richard Riordan is speaking. He's a "moderate" Republican which means he just slightly less radical and left-wing than Fidel Castro.

Put on the blinders and drink the corporate/government kool-aid!
