71 percent of voters support raising taxes on the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans

A smart person does not quit a job unless he or she has another one to go to. Just plain common sense.
So is a lack of equal protection of the laws.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States.

Right-wingers seem to have the most problem being Legal to the Law.

A Vox and Data for Progress poll, conducted October 8-12, found that 71 percent of voters support raising taxes on the wealthiest 2 percent of Americans to pay for the bill. Eighty-six percent of Democrats and 50 percent of Republicans backed the idea. Other tax provisions focused on the wealthy that could be included in the bill — such as tax increases on corporations and capital gains — found 65 percent or more support overall.

Sixty-three percent of voters in the poll said they supported the $3.5 trillion overall plan that includes spending on health care, long-term care, child care, and clean-energy jobs.

I didn't know the $3.5 trillion over 10 years plan was so popular.

Do you think we should tax the rich, people who make over a half million dollars per year?

The former Rush Limbaugh is turning over in his grave.
the wealthiest two percent run all the poliicians and the government...good luck

Quick, tell the Dems!!!
I thought it was a joke headline.

If you rephrased the question to something like, "Should it be legal to steal from your neighbor if they have more than you?", Most people would say no. But if you obfuscate it as something mundane, like tax policy, they're in favor. Hiding behind a vote.

With the way that money is mobile across international boundaries anymore...it's getting easier and easier to avoid taxes.

The best way to go is with a "Debt Tax" and a "User Fee" based on commerce.

A person can own a billion dollars worth of stock and not pay any taxes....because he doesn't actually sell the stock....he just borrows against its value up to $500 million. But he can still trade that stock and make money from dividends and capital gains. As well as salaries from being on the board of directors. Salaries are taxable...but it pays the interest payments on whatever he has borrowed.

And if it gets to be too much he can just borrow the money from a bank in a different country. Buy and sell stock in another country's stock market. American stocks, French, Swiss, UK....
