Celibarcay will not turn a person to child molestation. It is more likely that the pedophiles knew they wanted children and turned to god first in order to be healed.

Yet they were not healed(why, don't know) and began molesting children out of frustration and abandonment of their faith.

I don't see how the any organization, let alone the church, can screen out pedophiles if there isn't a psychological test of the applicants applying for positions with the organizations. Worst yet, it is possible for an applicant to distort their test to encourage hiring.

There probably are pedophiles entering or apart of the church today, so the clergy must remain vigilant.

If someone was celibrate and had a desire for adult women, they will seek out and flirt with adult women or even prostitutes. At the worst teenage girls just under the legal age yet developed enough to look like an adult woman.

It takes something outside your control to change your psychological development. Celibracy and faith are actually within your control. You will consciously lose one before you begin to change subconsciously.

Also, certainly in previous decades, pedophiles would have seen the Church as an access to children. Much the same as professions such as teaching, sports coaching,etc. It is a profession that, by its very nature, gives access to children.

For the past couple of decades, the Church changed it's stance from one of protecting the Church (which was wrong and I doubt you'd find any Catholic who supported that stance) to one of protecting the children.... which is absolutely the right thing to do. From the 1980s to 2011, the stance was that any accusation of child abuse (sexual or physical) required the Bishop to act. From 2012, that stance has again moved forward. It is no longer acceptable to react to accusations. Now, each Bishop is required to produce a proactive policy on child abuse before May 2012. Those polices must be proactive... meaning that absolutely any suspicion of abuse is not investigated internally (as has been the case between 1980s and 2011)... the Bishop must now report any suspicion immediately to law enforcement and cooperate fully with any investigation.

Also, of course, the Church has now changed the requirements to enter the Priesthood - and there are far more stringent testing, background checks, etc before any man can enter the seminary.
