62 percent of Americans back letting illegal immigrants become citizens
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Sixty-two percent of Americans support providing a way for immigrants living in the United States illegally to become citizens if they meet requirements, while almost a fifth support deportation, a poll showed on Tuesday.

With the Obama administration hoping that immigration reform could be passed this year, 17 percent of Americans surveyed back allowing illegal immigrants to become permanent legal residents, according to the poll by the nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute and the center-left Brookings Institution.

I'll support amnesty for the children and adults with a history of hard work. IF
1. They speak english
2. They love this country
3. They pledge against gang violence
4. They keep working and advancing their education

= Ok with me.

Those opposed are violently opposed.

1) "If they speak English...."

That disqualifies most of the South. Redneckese is hardly English. Considering that most of our states' names are non-English, it seems pretty lame to push for English as our official language. Even the name "America" isn't English.

2) "They love this country....."

After warm-hearted Christian Conservative Teabagger Republicans have made the entire world feel SO welcome and protected? Who wouldn't love America? Yes, that's sarcasm. There is very little about America to love anymore. Your failed war on drugs is still going strong after 40 years with absolutely no progress at all. How many more trillions of our dollars do We the People want to allow our public servants to spend on this useless endeavor? What's another couple trillion added to the debt if it will slightly inconvenience some potheads, right?

3) "They pledge against gang violence."

Yeah, committing savage acts of violence is the job of the police. The government doesn't want competition.

4) "They keep working and advancing their education."

That's mostly the reason that they come here. Their countries suck and they want a better life. That's why we have the Statue of Liberty. It is an open invitation to the world.
