Again, statistics can be manipulated. Most that show a positive impact leave out educational costs. An illegal coming across our border and having a baby means the US likely pays for the birth and that baby qualifies for federal assistance. If the mom works, she must have someone, or the state, watch the child. If she works under the table, she doesn’t pay federal income or state tax. If she doesn’t work, clearly it is a huge net loss for the US. When the child goes to school, who is paying that? They likely don’t own property therefore don’t pay property taxes, which is much of the funding source for schools.

If a pregnant illegal comes across the border, has a baby and never gets federal or state assistance, then yes, it is possible they are a net gain. Those are few and far between.

What don’t you understand? If you earned $8000, you owed $0 in federal income tax and your EITC was $3000, you would get a check for $3000. It is a fully refundable tax credit. It is absolutely welfare in some cases.
