he should go to prison for 30 years.....or more...not just 8....

According to court documents, agents surveilling “The Nation’s Gun Show” in Chantilly on April 25, 2015, saw Weiss give a seller a large amount of cash for two pistols and an AR-15. They followed him as he walked to the parking lot with two pistol boxes and the rifle.

Along with his behavior, Weiss bought pistols in Virginia but had Maryland tags on his car leading agents to suspect he had committed a crime. Under federal law, patrons can only buy handguns in the state where they live.

Wow...they used actual police work....and not a universal background check to catch this guy.....who knew....?

With six felony convictions, prosecutors said that Weiss “may not qualify as a career offender, but (he) is a person dedicated to a life of crime” and recommended 10 years in prison.

why didn't he get the 10 years?

There is no gun show loophole......he found a private seller, one who is not required by federal law to submit a background check...that isn't a loophole.....that is the law....

And moron....he was still caught...without a background check....using actual police work.....

And here is this moron......if he had been required to do a background check, the felon would have just used a straw buyer....the same way they get guns with current federally mandated background checks for licensed gun dealers...or he would have followed the guy to his home and stolen the guns.....

This story shows what we have said for a long time....we have all the gun laws we need to arrest gun criminals....no more laws are needed to keep criminals in jail for gun crimes. This felon......was able to buy guns despite all of your gun laws....and was caught using current police investigative techniques....

I have posted these stories before....and gun traffickers and illegal buyers are currently caught the old fashioned way....snitches.....criminals turning in other criminals....with no need to force normal gun owners to do universal background checks that do not stop criminals from getting guns......

No it wasn't. It was an attempt to compete a private sale. Fortunately a gun seller with ethics saw something he didn't like and did something to stop the transaction.

What will that do.....do you understand that private sales are not where criminals get their guns...they get them from licensed gun dealers using people with clean records to buy the guns or they steal them....

so....knowing that...if you force the widow Johnson to get a background check when she gives her son her dead husbands hunting rifle......what does that achieve......

And if a criminals wants to buy a gun from an individual seller....he can just use a straw buyer for that purchase too...

Wrong.....if he wanted to get these guns if the guy was forced to do a background check he could have used a straw buyer...just like for gun shows...or he could have followed the guy home, and broke into the home after the guy left......

And again......He was caught using normal police techniques without the need for a background check....

Background checks are useless.....why do the anti gunner leadership want them...so they can push for universal gun registration when universal background checks fail to stop criminals and mass shooters from getting guns......

Yes....I am....because he would have used a straw buyer.......or he would have stolen the guns or he would have bought the guns from an illegal seller who already bought them illegally or stole them.....

That is how criminals get around background checks right now.....and they will do the same things to get around universal background checks......

Anti gunner leaders want universal background checks solely so they can move on to the next step....universal gun registration..since universal background checks will not stop criminals or mass shooters from getting guns...so they will then say..."Now we need universal gun registration otherwise universal background checks won't work."

And then, years from now, they will do what Britain and Australia did and use that registration information to ban and confiscate guns......
