Thet are both true statements. If soldiers do not follow orders, the military will not function effectively, but he is also charged with refusing to follow an illegal order, so there is no safe choice for a soldier.

However these considerations have no applications here. They call on soldiers not to follow illegal orders from President Trump and claim he has already given such illegal orders to soldiers, which is not true. The President never gives orders to the troops but only to the leadership and so the issue of legality would be decided long before the troops ever hear about it. That being the case, the only issue to be decided is whether these politicians are merely irresponsible political propagandists or are they seriously trying to incite rebellion in the military.

Name them. If an order were actually illegal, it would be deemed so and rejected at the top of the chain of command by the generals or JAG officers, not by some soldier in the field.

For one thing, a soldier has no standing to judge anything constitutionally legal or otherwise as they don't know shit about the constitution. Even experts often disagree as to the meaning of this or that.

I dare you to name the last time a combat soldier refused an order handed down all the way from the president as being "constitutionally illegal" and it was reviewed then held up as a justified action?
