nov 18 2025 Democratic Michigan Sen. Elissa Slotkin posted a video to social media Tuesday morning in which she and five of her congressional colleagues called for the military and the intelligence community to “stand up” to President Donald Trump’s administration.

“We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now,” Slotkin, a former CIA officer, said in the video she appeared in alongside Democratic Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Democratic Pennsylvania Reps. Chris Deluzio and Chrissy Houlahan, Democratic New Hampshire Rep. Maggie Goodlander and Democratic Colorado Rep. Jason Crow.

“Our laws are clear. You can refuse illegal orders. You can refuse illegal orders. You must refuse illegal orders,” Kelly, Slotkin and Deluzio said later in the video.

In the wake of Charlie Kirk, there were calls by the right to end the violent rhetoric under accusations it was fueling hate and violence (which I agree with). I guess the president didn't get that memo.

For the record, sedition is the advocacy of violence against the government. The lawmakers involved were advocating peace by the government. It's kind of literally the opposition of sedition.

Sorry, but the title is already maliciously worded--wrongly, I might add. And you cite one of the most left-wing news sources on the internet? That article has no credibility.

Furthermore, the one thing you don't do is encourage our troops to disobey orders. That's tantamount to calling for an insurrection.

The last thing you do is try to sow discord in the world's most stable and powerful military. Period. Full stop.

Don't expect a warm reaction to calls for our troops to openly defy their CinC without a justifiable, legal reason.
