The Sheriff admits to lying about the situation but blames everyone else for what he did.

In a recorded conversation about the response to Troyer’s report about Altheimer, on the evening after it occurred, a South Sound 911 dispatcher told the Tacoma officer who wrote the police report that the massive response was made “inappropriately” due to the sheriff’s vague description of the alleged threats against him.

“And that’s kind of a common practice with him — of not getting information out of him,” the dispatcher said.

As a result, dispatchers issued the “Priority 0 Officer Needs Help” alert, which was broadcast to all law enforcement agencies countywide and triggered 42 units to rush toward the scene before being called off.

“And if we would’ve been, like, able to get any answers, I would’ve probably put it out like a Priority 2 Prowler … and then we would’ve found out it’s just a newspaper person,” the dispatcher said.

The guy couldn't even do his job without getting harassed and getting 42 police units called on him.

Were the cops okay?

Not defending this in any way but the FBI sent more that a dozen agents to take Roger Stone into custody it's not like they were going after a real life Tony Montana. Overkill has become far to common nowdays.

Overkill is a major problem. No that was not justifiable either but this was simply a black man doing his job.

The next time you call the cops because you see someone (regardless of race) skulking around your place at 4:00AM, I've instructed 911 Operator to just tell you, "Don't worry, it's just the paper boy".

We wouldn't want anyone to over-react, would we?

You're blatantly lying. 2 units showed up, not 42.

Why are you lying to the USMB forum again, jackass?

All over a cop freaking out over a black man delivery news papers.

The sheriff didn't even know what color the guy was, you fucking moron. Nor did he know that the guy was delivering newspapers.

Your a pathetic racist lying piece of shit and a moron.

The sheriff requested one or two units and the dispatcher overreacted. And neither of them knew what color the guy was.

Sounds like the guy was looking for trouble.

Was there anything in the officer's request for assistance that indicated the race of the suspect?

I'm sure you won't answer, you'll just give a thumbs down.

That's fine, that would indicate the answer is, "No".

Black newspaper delivery driver detained after Pierce County sheriff claims, then recants, threat to life

He had NO reason to be harassing the guy. He had no reason to make up the lies he told.

His statements about what happened that night contain some inconsistencies, at times contradicting his recorded call to an emergency dispatcher and diverging sharply on key points from what Altheimer says happened.

Yes if you follow the delivery drivers statements he knew.

None of which bears any relevance on the response to an "officer needs assistance" call.

You imply that the police response was racially motivated. You've presented nothing that corroborates that assessment.

Read what the dispatcher says and the way he lies. She is saying he routinely replied like he did here.
