4,000 daycare centers were discovered in a 20 mile radius around Boston Massachusetts...

Is this actually unreasonable?
First: how many daycare-aged children are in the area?
Second: where do the statistics for number of daycares come from? What counts as a daycare in the search done to find the locations?

I looked this up and, while I haven't yet found where the data comes from, I have seen discussion about the reasonableness of that many daycares in that area. Some have said there may be about 100,000 children under 10 in that area, which would mean about an average of 25 kids per daycare. If you assume half the of the kids actually go to daycare, that's 12 or so per. And that isn't the highest estimate I've seen bandied about for the number of daycare-aged kids within that area.

People have also questioned what qualifies as a daycare in the map. Was it a simple keyword search? If so, would things like doggy daycare or adult daycare have shown up on the search and be part of the map? Some speculated that it might include things like gyms that provide some sort of daycare service, or after-school programs at schools.

So while it's certainly possible that this map represents a lot of fraud, without a lot more information pointing that way, this seems like much ado about nothing.

The Trump administration is pausing child care funding to all states after allegations of fraud in daycare centers in Minnesota emerged, an official with the Department of Health and Human Services said.

The official said the funds will be released “only when states prove they are being spent legitimately.” The official did not provide details or more information about the proof the agency is requiring from states.

GOod reason to cut all of these Federal programs to zero. As we can clearly see, if it's not their money, states don't a **** about supervising it

America cant afford anything beyond wealthcare

We'll see. People are allowed to run day care centers out of homes in my area with certain restrictions. It seems to be more of a black thing around here. They are legit or legit-adjacent though by the number of people I have heard bitching about someone in their hood keeping a bunch of screeching/bratty kids during the day.

I know of 5 day cares within a mile of my house. They are all legit.

Apparently the Somalian daycare center scandal is far worse than we thought it was. It's no wonder we're $38.5 trillion dollars in debt.

Well. If nations are not rooted in Christian-Judeo moral principles, then their citizens think this is how you get ahead: not by working, saving, etc, but by looting, pillaging and committing fraud.

We really, REALLY need to understand that not all cultures are the same, not by a long shot.

Well, who knows, maybe one of these privileged Samali criminals will start giving out loans to struggling Americans in the current economic hard times.

4,000 in Boston is a suspiciously high number

There are only 659 daycare centers in all of Dallas-Ft Worth

Which is comparable in size to greater Boston
