Paul 'Bear' Bryant died in Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa AL. When he died the only jewelry he wore (the only jewelry he ever wore) was a simple gold ring inscribed "Junction Boys".
He retired after the 1982 season. When asked what he would do now, his answer was "Probably croak in a week". He lived 4 weeks.
He had a huge effect on his players, the game and on the entire city of Tuscaloosa.
