edit, that is a pretty harsh comment. The stimulus package was supposed to be an emergency economic recovery package. What's the emergency here? Is your only argument for so many pet projects in the bill that it spends money? Spending is only part of the answer, not all of it. What about tax cuts? What about the incentive for employers to create jobs or the means to put cash back in the pockets of real people so consumer confidence increases? What about plans to absorb the so called toxic assests that still have so many banks frozen?

A stimulus bill is not just spending money that doesn't exist. It should be balanced between spending and incentives. Without spending on earmarks like these.

It always drives me nuts when people attempt to lay blame for our, or for that matter the world's economy on Bush. One man, no matter how powerful, could not be responsible. It is a series of events. We had to make housing affordable to everyone, so we did and then created a bad mortgages.

Also, If my memory was correct, Dems had the major for the last two years of Bush' term. Are they part of the cabal of gangsters? And if I remember correctly the approval rating of Congress was the lowest in recorded history. Search on "Congressional Approval Rating" and look up the Gallup poll.

How about 2,000,000 forclosures, a DOW that lost 50% of its value, the dramatic decline in housing values, and millions and millions of formerly productively employed workers losing their jobs?

I have long been saying that the way we are coddling the banks is a mistake. If they'r ebankrupted and we want to take over those toxi assets, then the people of the USA oOWN those banks.

If you're serious about that, I expect you'll need to get you local government to apply for a grant.

But if you locval governments are like mine, they're probably not qualified to apply for those grants, so you might have to do the legwork to get that money for them, first.
