Payroll taxes and income taxes are two different things. The stimulus and unemployment money are not funded by payroll taxes, they are funded by income taxes.

You could possibly justify the stimulus money. It's money people will put back into the economy. But when you pay people more to stay home than go to work, they're going to stay home every last day they can, and that harms the economy more than helps.

My washing machine broke so I went to buy a new one. Can't find any. They are several weeks to a month behind on their orders. Not just one brand, all of them that Home Depot sells.

We are experiencing an aluminum can shortage. With more people home and not at the bar drinking out of kegs, they are enjoying their adult beverage out of cans, and now there is a shortage and you may not be able to find your favorite soda or beer in the near future.

So how do we have all these shortages of products, and all these people out of work? Under normal circumstances, these companies would either add product lines or have manufacturing 24/7.

Revenue is still revenue. It’s government funding that goes to something.

Government doesn't take all their money and put it in a hat, then start paying for things. Most of your payroll tax, you get back and more if you live the average lifespan in the US. You will get all your SS money back and more. You will get all your Medicare money back and more. You will get all your FICA taxes back and more. The only thing you won't get back are your state and local tax money, because they go towards things you enjoy every day like new or repaired roads, water and sewer lines, police and fire, your local schools..........

My idea is this: Since everybody wants this free money, let everybody repay this money instead of going much deeper into debt. After all, nearly half of America doesn't pay into income tax, which is where this money comes from. So I say when this is all over and we stabilize, we have a national consumption tax for everybody. Say 10 cents on the dollar. It can only be used to pay all this money back we are borrowing right now.

Then you'd see how quick the people in this country would reject extending the 600 dollar a week fed addition to unemployment. It's much different when you get something others will pay for, and getting something you will have to pay for.
