2nd Ammendment Alert

There is a difference in gathering different people who make an assumption about WHY something is happening to them, and producing evidence.

I'll be watching for some evidence.

I can gather at least 100 people who would claim they didn't get into Harvard because of racism. That's very different than producing evidence of racism.

Perhaps it's because they are pawnshops.

Perhaps it's because they've sold stolen property?

That's the point. We can't know yet.

Yet Suntrust reportedly have not given the gun shop owners a specific answer as to why their accounts have been canceled.

If they are doing things that are illegal, then law enforcement should be involved, not Suntrust.

A South Carolina pawn shop owner who sells guns, guitars and an array of other items says that his bank forced him to close his accounts, and he thinks it is because of the weapons.

Morris Williams, who owns Inman Gun and Pawn, says he thought his relationship with SunTrust Bank was fine — “excellent” in fact.

“We have ample funds in the account to do anything we needed to do,” Williams told Fox Carolina, adding that he thought “everything was just wonderful.”

Williams, who opened up two checking accounts with SunTrust in 2006, was given little explanation for the bankÂ’s sudden decision.

“The only thing that they will tell us is that we have been deemed a prohibited business type,” he told Fox Carolina, adding that he believes his shop was targeted by the federal government because he sells guns.

How do you know Suntrust hasn't provided a specific answer? Because the pawnshop owner says so? And if it were because of criminal activity, would the owner tell us that?

The bank is handcuffed, they can't say much and that provides a wide open window for someone intent on playing the victim card to fill that void of information with his story.

Not saying that is what is happening here - I'm just saying we don't know. What's your rush anyway? Why do you feel the need to decide this issue so quickly. What's wrong with getting more facts?

Do they have to do background checks in south Carolina?

It's a federal law.

I already posted the real reason:

I happen to live in the Inman area. It seems that the Gun shops that use Suntrust Bank are having there accounts canceled. This is not isolated to just this one shop. There have been several gun shop owners that have called into a local talk radio show reporting that their accounts have been canceled. The owner of the Gun shop in Inman said that he has been asked to appear on a Fox News morning show tomorrow.

Sure. Ok. Right. Uh huh.

thanx Howey....

Wow, another 'news' article from the unimpeachable folks at Tea Party News.

A pawn shop that sells guns? Oh my goodness! This must be stopped. Seem to recall buying my duty piece at a pawn shop albeit in Texas way back. :)

No rush! I too am interested in more information. However, as I posted earlier I live local to this story. On talk radio there have been several other gun shop owners reporting to have the same problem. So the evidence is building in favor of what the gun shop owner says. And firearms sales was on the list of targets by operation choke point, but was dropped off within the last week. It's possible that information may come available that explains another reason for these bank accounts being canceled. Inquiring minds want to know?

Also, I don't know for sure that Suntrust didn't provided a specific answer, hince the word "reportedly".

I'm just trying to count up the number of times a screw up has tried to blame someone else for their own shortcomings and created a gubment conspiracy to try to paint themselves as the victim?????

Gonna have to see a lot more evidence. The bank is handicapped because they cannot release personal account information so we may never know how many hot checks he wrote on those accounts. I'm sure HE won't divulge that.

I've seen this same thing way too many times to get my panties all in a bunch before the whole story comes out.

So you have no problem with the Government targeting the finances of Legal and honest gun related businesses because Obama and Holder hate the 2nd Amendment and guns in general and you want to blame the business owners instead?

The problem you have is that this and the OP's premise fail as a post hoc fallacy.

Exactly.
This guy claims he was "victimized" by a government conspiracy too.

But when you look under the hood you find out he made some very poor business decisions and was defaulting on his loan.

Not saying this case is the exact same thing - what I am saying is that this tactic is so common these days, why would anyone jump to a conclusion without checking under the hood?

that's a bit odd, I have bought 21 guns and I have never had a background check.

Bullshit, I want to see the written reason from the bank...I think is not admissible evidence...

ok here is their reason ... we don't want you as a customer any more ... if a company does not want to do business with you all they have to say is , ""we don't want to do business with you any more ... thats it ... they don't need to give you, me, or anyone accept the person who they have closed their accouint with ... it not a case of how much money you have in their bank its a case of how much could your company cost them ... its all about money

interesting, in your twisted mind this is ok, but its not ok for someone not to make a cake for a gay person

Did you buy them at a gun shop? or from a private party?
In my state you can sell to anyone without question if it is a private sale. If you buy from a gun shop there is a background check and the gun shop keeps a record of all sales.

Anyone over 18 years old can easily buy and sell guns legally here without even a receipt if bought or sold privately

Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Nope, I don't blame the NRA for hustling for every penny they can get. That's their purpose.

And if Suntrust did cancel accounts of businesses because they sell firearms due to government pressure from operation choke point, then that would be a violation of the second ammendment. And operation choke point has been documented to be the real deal. But why rush to judgement. There could be another reason.
