I've done that before and quite recently too. Mr Gracies room is smaller than mine, so to give him more room in there, he uses my closet for his clothing and stuff. The head of his bed is in the closet...a double size mattress fits perfectly width wise. The foot of the bed is in the room but not as far if it was just in the room itself. Top shelf holds his books and stuff. Little enclave corners on each side hold end tables with lamps.
Works perfectly.
