Sort of an odd-duck, .38 special on a N-Frame.....factory nickel.

It was designed for a Special Heavy Police Load back then which is somewhere between .38 Special +P and +P+ now.
 
That thing is as cool as your PIC !

BTW: I just bought a S&W Bodygaurd and if I could redo it I would have put the extra $$$ for something better.

It did not discharge the first time I went to fire it.

Many were converted to .357 (a simple chamber reaming) as they could easily handle the pressure. Of course that was before +P ammo was available.

It does not make much sense now since you are only giving-up around 100 fps or so.

With only 9500 M1950s made between 1950 and '66 (and a premium for nickel) it makes the ones that survived in their original chambering even more valuable. ;)
