183 Passengers stuck on Amtrak train since Sunday in Oregon

And those are 500 bridges in one State, and most of them are probably very small. How many are out as compared to how many exist?
Was hoping you would ask that.

Structurally deficient doesn't mean unsafe, or in danger of collapse, which you are trying to imply here.

Some are rated as such because they are simply old, and do not meet current increased standards. Some are due for maintenance or upgrade, and thus fall into the category.

Again, how many bridges are there total in the US?

You are in a conversation with an Engineer noob, so don't try this bullshit with me.

Not any more since you're being a punk, Huckleberry. If you want to start a thread about the engineering of bridges, go ahead. btw --I love how you avoid the point about $1 trillion a year in military and national security spending too.

Yet the liberoidal do-gooders have lots of looted money from the highway trust fund, for their money-sucking urban choo-choos that next to nobody rides.

Did you even read the article about the bridge collapse you showed? The issue wasn't maintenance or corrosion, the issue was a combination of a design flaw, an extra 2" of concrete, and loading the failure point with construction equipment and materials.

So it had nothing to do with not spending $$ to maintain the bridge, but you use it as an example, like an ignorant jackass.

Oboy! Another "Ratings" fallacy! :eusa_dance:

Personally, I don't understand how Amtrak is still in business.

It's a closed space, a bumpy ride, it takes at least 8 times as long to get the destination as by plane, and costs about twice as much.

To top it off, they have derailments and crap like this going on that can take your life like that.

I just don't get it.

It's the big government you support.

So it had nothing to do with not spending $$ to maintain the bridge, but you use it as an example, like an ignorant jackass.
I rest my case.
Most engineers are dickheads with no sense of humor. I have a brother who's one so I know.

Sorry, but we deal with facts, so it's not surprising you get agitated dealing with Engineers.

And any chimp can link videos, try harder.

What a waste of money Amtrak is, if you want to joy ride and don't care when you get there, then Amtrak is for you. If you are wanting to go from point A to point B and want to be in on time, then forget, it's a waste of time.

Rode it a few times and now I'll fly or drive, I am through with the federal train system, it s a joke.

So you use an example that really isn't an example and then you accuse Marty for being a dickhead for correcting you?

You are an ignorant jackass, and that is being nice.
