Let's face it. Democrats and Republicans both have the system rigged so that only one of the two of them can win. Third parties are nothing but a protest vote. Ross Perot's Reform party got 20% of the vote years ago and won a grand total of zero electoral votes. Libertarians used to try like hell to attract 10% of the vote. This last election Chase Oliver had a goal of collecting 2% of the vote and wound up getting 1%. Now Musk's new America party has 14% support.

55 percent say they won't. Stop pretending that small numbers mean big things.

I've poo pooed the idea of a 3rd party for many years.

Perot was a freaking joke.

That said, the system is obviously rigged and it does make me want to imagine what my idea / ideals might be for a 3rd party.

I have some ideas, might start a thread about that some day.

NY has a law barring any party with the name America in it.

The name of a party shall be in the English language and shall not include the words “American”, “United States”, “National”, “New York State”, “Independence” or “Independent”, or “Empire State”, or any abbreviation or plural thereof, nor the name or part of the name, or an abbreviation of the name, of an existing party.

Ummmmmmm, democrats currently have an approval rating of 19%. Stop pretending that small numbers mean big things.

A third party will have t draw the type of candidate that appeals to the people. Elon Musk is hated. His stench ruins and potential candidacy in that party.

That's why 46 percent of the people are now leaning democrat and 43 percent are leaning Republican. Stop believing what you get from that right-wing garbage you use.

As far as the presidency goes, it all starts with changing the electoral college requirement really based on only two parties. But, I am against getting rid of the EC altogether.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm, no third party is credible.

You've really been making a lot of funny posts lately. Maybe you could apply for a job for CBS late night.

I’ll take any third party candidate they would all have been better than Trump, Clinton, Biden and Harris.

I've noticed that the EC is never a problem when the president is the popular choice.

I don't even know what that means but I'm totally against electing by popular vote. 2/3's of the country is rural red and that 2/3's doesn't want the big cities telling them how to live their lives. We don't need California and New York deciding who is president. The blue team has been free to destroy their states and cities and they've been doing that. The other 2/3's of the country don't want that happening to them.

It's just an observation, if any party (including a 3rd party) were to become elected with a solid enough message and along with that - popular opinion, the EC becomes a non issue.

Ranked choice voting would immediately fix the system and give 3rd parties an actual chance. Instead, we’re stuck picking between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

If we’re serious about un-rigging the system, this is the way to do it. My $0.02.

The RepubliCratic Duopoly Party(RCDP) does NOT like competition. In both the 2008 & 2012 POTUS Contests Libertarian leaning congressman Ron Paul was a GOP POTUS candidate. John McCain sued him for something(I can't remember for what) but it tied Ron Paul up, then there was the 2012 delegate issue among other issues that relegated Ron Paul to janitor status if not less. With the RepubliCratic Duopoly Party ESTABLISHMENT if ya "don't play ball with them" then one is all set to get launched!

Ranked choice voting is a scam to elect more democrats.
