On December 6, US President
Donald Trump declared that he was formally recognising Jerusalem as the
capital of Israel, igniting deadly protests in the Palestinian territories.
Palestinians said Trump's decision "destroyed the possibility of peace", and removed the US as a neutral broker of talks between Israelis and Palestinians.
East Jerusalem is considered by the Palestinians as the capital of the future Palestinian state.
1) Arab Palestinians, and many Muslims for that matter, have never, ever, meant to have peace with Israel.
2) Arab "Palestinians" can consider the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem (that is what it was at the time Jordan invaded and expelled all the Jews from that quarter - and only Jews lived there - ) their "future Palestinian Capital" all they like.
But.....they never had ANY control over that Quarter, it was conquered and controlled by the Jordanians for 19 years until they got even greedier and decided in 1967 to join Egypt and Syria in attacking Israel for more land.
The Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem is NOT Palestinian. And neither is any part of Judea and Samaria (also conquered by Jordan and not any Arab "Palestinian" in 1948 ).
