Putin is not interested in peace, and only wants to consolidate his gains and buy time for his new offensive next spring. Nothing he says or does can be relied on.

It would be total folly to let him off the hook, he is losing badly and Ukraine needs to exploit the Russian weakness. Now is not the time to cut him any slack- that will only result in many more Ukrainians killed next spring.

He has the public and State media in a panic over the mobilization and recent losses, Prigozhin and and Kadryov vying for power against Shoigu and the MoD, and everyone is pointing fingers at each other.

Let Putin sweat. Dictators who lose wars have very short shelf lives.
