I read such a great op-ed tonight in the L.A. Times. I'd love to share it:

With all its flaws, the Senate health bill would be the biggest expansion of the social safety net since Medicare, greatly improving the lives of millions. Getting this bill would be much, much better than watching health care reform fail. Flawed social insurance programs have tended to get better over time, the story of health reform suggests that rejecting an imperfect deal in the hope of eventually getting something better is a recipe for getting nothing at all.

At its core, the bill would do two things. First, it would prohibit discrimination by insurance companies on the basis of medical condition or history: Americans could no longer be denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, or have their insurance canceled when they get sick. Second, the bill would provide substantial financial aid to those who don’t get insurance through their employers, as well as tax breaks for small employers that do provide insurance.

All of this would be paid for in large part with the first serious effort ever to rein in rising health care costs.

There is a lot more in the article.

Hate to burst all you alls bubble, BUT ain't nothing been passed yet. Now the Senate and the House have to reconcile the differences in their two bills and find a common bill.

By the way no Global warming treaty occurred. Obama promised to pay tons of money to some Countries while the "treaty" has no enforceable limits of any kind, only goals . No way to monitor for the Goals even. China has already said they won't monitor shit.

If this is the best we can get right now, so be it. We have to start somewhere. As the article said, flawed social insurance programs tend to get better.

Flawed social insurance programs tend to get better? Don't they mean more expensive?

Hold onto your wallets folks. Next comes AMNESTY! The CBO better start re-crunching those numbers.

    1. Healthcare Reform is going the same place Cap+Trade went.
    2. There is no Global Warming Treaty, Obama just promised to borrow $100b from the Chinese to give to the Chinese?!

Republicans gave you reasons why Obama's policies are moronic. We'll see who the voters believe in 2010 and 2012.

BTW, what is Obama going to do as Medicare goes bankrupt and Social Security goes bankrupt? <ans> promise money to China so they try to reduce emissions???
